The survey was conducted last year by the Union Ministry of Housing and concrete Affairs in 111 cities with a population of over a million. During which quite 32 lacs citizens from of these cities participated. Minister of State for Housing and concrete Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri recently announced the results of the survey.

The Ease of Living Survey of 111 cities surveyed the living standards, economic viability, socio-cultural and academic security of the town, employment opportunities, sanitation, public lands, land use, waste management, citizen response, municipal administration Quality, economic condition of the municipality, technology, management etc. were the main factors involved. After taking into consideration the coefficients given by the citizens, the Central Government then announced the list and number of ‘livable cities’.
